Desirable Women; Aspirations of Femininity

The concept of femininity is generally a male construct; to be feminine is to be submissive/available/pretty/dainty/sexy/young.  Defined under the male gaze, femininity becomes a rather constricting construction, and I aim to revamp it.

This is my portrait of femininity from a female perspective – a compilation of characteristics and moods women find desirable in themselves.  Valued here are women comfortable in their sexuality and nudity.  The are adventurous, curious, powerful, goddess-like, intelligent, happy, nurturing, and badass women who consider themselves to be womanly, desirable and every bit feminine.

Each individual element is so beautiful in its abstract, organic patterns - and worthy of praise for just that: the dualism of simplicity and infinite complexity of form . It also frightens me to see that our environment is threatened.  By photographing several different aspects; cliffs, moss, oil, and water, then re-creating them in a different physical form, I allow for the potential of manipulating the composition of 12 squares as well as orientation of each square.  Thus, oil, water, and land can be manipulated with no environmental impact.
